YW LEGACY FUND HISTORY
In 2006, after 86 years of providing programs and services to women and their families, the YWCA of Salina closed its doors. Assets left from the sale of the building at 651 E. Prescott, the YWCA Endowment and the YWCA Organizational Fund at the Greater Salina Community Foundation were combined to form the YW Legacy Fund at GSCF. This Fund annually makes grants to individuals and organizations in Saline County that provide opportunities to:
-
Encourage women’s growth, leadership and power in order to attain a common vision: peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all people
-
Help children attain their greatest potential
-
Create an environment to assist in the physical and mental health and well-being of women and their families
-
Pursue the elimination of racism wherever it exists
Through the YW Legacy Fund, the former YWCA continues to make a difference in our community. More than $250,000 has been granted from this fund to support causes that make Salina a better place for women and their families.
Proceeds from the Woman of Achievement event are placed in the YW Legacy Fund. If you would like to donate to this fund, click here.
